The Reef was the place to be for historic victories Thursday night as the Stingrays baseball team defeated the Bulldogs of Flagler Palm Coast in dominating fashion to win its fourth ever district championship in school history.
“This is just a small step into what this program can be in the future,” said Captain Noah Prudencio while celebrating the 10-1 victory. “We’ve worked hard as a team these past years to get where we are today and we aren’t done.”
Big emphasis on the “we aren’t done” as the Stingrays await the announcement of their opponent in the regional bracket, which will be announced Friday, April 18th at 1:00 p.m.
If the Stringrays get wins in two regional showdowns, they will advance to state championship tournament.
After a slow start from the bats of the Stingrays Wednesday night against the Bulldogs, the game was notched at 1-1 heading into the bottom of the second inning.
Centerfielder Aramis Pabon had other plans as he belted a single into left-centerfield, driving in two runs and giving the Stringrays a 3-1 lead. From then on out, it was all Stingrays.
Atlantic Coast added seven more runs while pitcher Wade Surber finished off the Bulldogs with a serene strikeout to secure the district title.
Coastal Tides will update the story as information arrives about the next contest for the Stingray baseball team.
